Umami food & art festival
A non-profit, biennale event, the festival worked in partnership with other organizations in NYC to foster collaborations between artists and food professionals. The festival featured interdisciplinary and collaborative events, creating an interchange of ideas about the role of food and art in our society and creating long-term collaborative relationships between organizations and individuals from different fields.
Umami encouraged art based in everyday life and materials, illustrating that art can be found anywhere and can be produced at any time with the simplest means. It encouraged non-commercial, time-based art and artists who work in non-traditional media.
